Season III
ADAM CENTKO - SILICON SIGHTS
[SLOVAKIA 2020]
Silicon Sights is a fictional exploration of a hypothetical border, between the physical land- scapes and their digital replicas, questioning the bridge between the two worlds, and fol- lowing the existence of meta-human entities and alter-egos on both sides. What do these entities have in common, and what is the relationship between them? The hero of the film is one of such, and they are provided with a camera, a device that can exist on either side of the border and can, therefore, cross and blend the documentations into one research narrative. There is no image without a camera, the source of external perspectives, it becomes an active actor in our digital lives: framing, juxtaposing, and editing. A fragile inter-dependency is revealed, where the digital world thrives on the resources of the physical, consuming electricity and polluting. The meta-human entities of the digital world dream ambitiously of the better future; a post-representational paradise.

SJOERD MARTENS - INVITATION
[NETHERLANDS 2018]
The video Invitation (2018) is a photographic registration, a still digital image brought to life, by printing it on canvas material, painting it with oil paint and then scanning it and animating it with 3d and video material. The video is subtitled with poetry, the sound is a minimalist digitally composed piece of music. The film Invitation can be seen as a sculpture of our legacy. The areas I create are characterized by past human presence, current abandonedness and future uncertainty. The human traces as still life are brought to a new breathing environment through multidisciplinarity and atypical narrative techniques. The manipulated mise-en-scène forms a post-apocalyptic, semi-surreal microcosm that includes physical and non-physical signs of our mortality. This haven is solely palpable and is comparable to past childhood dreams, or dissociation from one’s environment or self.

CHARLOTTE CLERMONT - WHERE I DON’T MEET YOU
[CANADA 2019]
Shot on Super 8, "where i don't meet you" is based on its own physicality by the means of a DIY hand processing technique, where the film's materiality is treated not only as a medium but also as a subject. Its narrative structure reflects a work on film deconstruction, which joins an unpredictable and experimental universe. Showing a series of figurative shots accompanied by a textual sequence, formal and psychological associations are developped between each of the images. Through a confusing poetry, a filmic atmosphere unfolds in a "non-place", which recalls a moment lost between two time-spaces.

JUYI MAO - WAYS OF EATING LUOSIFEN
[UNITED STATES 2017]
This work draws inspiration from Kenneth Anger’s (1927- ) experimental film Kustom Kar Kommandos (1973). In the constant laying and interlacing film structure, the body (hands) have a relationship with various parts of the object. Through the camera movements, editing and soundtrack, an erotic narrative arc is produced, and finally, the climax—made Luosifen and eat it.

STAN ADARD - TIME(S) TO BREATHE
[SWITZERLAND 2020]
It is about the breath. And about thoughts. It is not about how to control your thoughts, but all about to stop your thoughts controlling you.
We walk through our life, childhood, teenage years, years in which we earn money and raise our children and eventually we enter the serenity of age. That said, it is about birth and death as well.
Time(s) To Breathe takes the attentive viewer/listener on a journey, at the end of which his condition should have changed: he breathes calmer and more consciously. An exciting animated film that directly involves the viewer/listener.
